Introduction
In collaboration with Majlis Agama Islam Perlis and Jabatan Mufti of Perlis, our Women of Sunnah Seminar with Dr. Haifaa Younis graced the state of Perlis for the first time ever. This is an exclusive full-day seminar designed exclusively for women as a transformative educational experience centered on understanding the profound Quranic verse from Surah At-Tawbah (9:71), where Allah reminds us that believing men and women are spiritual allies, supporters, and protectors of one another.
Event Concept
“Men and Women Are the Awliya’ of Each Other” was conceived as a comprehensive exploration of the beautiful harmony of gender roles in Islam, rooted in mutual responsibility, dignity, and spiritual partnership. The event drew inspiration from the lives of the women of Sunnah, offering participants practical guidance on embodying the Quranic model of cooperation and mutual support in their homes, communities, and personal spiritual growth.
The full-day program was structured to provide deep scholarly insights while maintaining an accessible and inspiring format. Participants engaged in a thorough examination of Surah At-Tawbah (9:71), learning how this fundamental verse establishes the framework for balanced, cooperative relationships between men and women in Islamic society. Through Dr. Younis’s expert guidance, attendees discovered how to translate these ancient principles into modern applications, building homes and communities grounded in mutual dignity, faith, and righteous action.
The event successfully created a space for ilm (knowledge), inspiration, and sisterhood, encouraging participants to rewrite contemporary narratives about gender roles using the Qur’an and Sunnah as their ultimate guide.
